JLCC Catalysts
Fuel Catalyst Products & Systems
Mr. Lang has over 50 years of combustion experience and a strong background in refining processes as owner and operator of JLCC Inc. He is currently designing and overseeing several projects for refineries, including efforts to lower emissions, and improve efficiencies.
Jerry has served as a consultant to virtually all the major oil companies and other industrial companies utilizing combustion in their processes including: Chevron, Texaco, Phillips, ARCO, Shell, Exxon, Mobil, Kraft, and Dow Chemical. He has developed technologies to improve efficiencies and retrofitted oil tanker ships for Exxon. Jerry served as the combustion auditor for Chevron on their Richmond, CA nitrous oxide (NOX) reduction project, worth in excess of $300 million. He has recently completed combustions projects in Norway and Qatar.
In 1967 Mr. Lang established a business with James Fair (original developer of HAWL). He developed the potential of several products related to combustion and incineration industries. Jerry worked as manager of combustion systems for Howe Backer Engineers and developed combustion equipment for refining operations.
Jerry Lang was recruited by Dr. Edward Teller, the primary developer of the hydrogen bomb, as an assistant during a four year period. Dr. Teller had a grant to explore alternate fuels, and Jerry assisted him in combustion testing which included noise attenuation from the process. This testing necessitated that he work in some of the most sophisticated lab in the world such as Oakridge, Brookhaven, Sandia, Livermore, and Intevep Venezuela.
Jerry has extensive experience designing equipment utilized in reducing emissions, vibration, and noise from stationary sources, such as refineries, power plants and other industrial operations. He developed and produced some of the oil recovery equipment utilized during the Alaska oil spill in 1989.
Mr. Lang has developed a liquid fuel catalyst over the past few years that has been proven to increase efficiency in diesel and gasoline engines as well as reduce emissions and eliminate particualte matter. While this is a huge step toward green the catalyst has been proven when used in conjunction with a delivery method and equipment package for natural gas engines such as large compression units that reduces emissions up to 75% or more.
Mr. Lang has worked over the years on improvements in automobile efficiency and emissions reductions. He patented the first EGR (exhaust gas recirculation system), installed a vaporizer in the exhaust to vaporize the fuel prior to intake, and worked on steam injection in automobiles.
Jerry Lang holds or is named on 27 patents including 13 combustion related patents. Four patented emission reduction processes have been sold worldwide thru licensing, bringing in total revenues of over 2 billion dollars.
Jerry attended the University of Texas in Austin, Arlington State College (now UT at Arlington), took various courses at TJC, and has attended many technical schools, including the Jet Home Waste Water Treatment course in 1988. He passed the professional Engineering Exam in 1967 and received his Engineering License. In addition to his course work Jerry has written many papers on combustion and emission reduction and won the “Best Paper Award” from ASME in 1992.
Jerry Lang has been a member of the following professional organizations:
Association of Energy Engineers AEE
Society of Manufacturing Engineers SME
American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME
Texas Society of Professional Engineers TSPE
Mr. Lang has also appeared as a expert witness in two cases for major oil companies and authored a paper on noise reduction.
